Out of interest, I did a little bit of reading up today about the origins of Valentine, or rather, Saint Valentine. It seems that there were three main Saint Valentines: Valentine of Rome, Valentine of Terni and Valentine of "nobody knows much about him but he appears to have been martyred in Africa at some stage". The Roman Catholic Church has now erased Saint Valentine's Day (14th of February) from its calendar, in a revision in 1969. So it is not an official saint day any more.
